hanging out with friends

I am devoting a considerable amount of time and effort to feeding myself up while staying with a friend who has a mountain hideaway in between Mexico City and Cuernavaca. The day after I arrived a neighbour invited us both to afternoon tea.

A very proper afternoon tea in Huitzilac...

...with apple pie...

...and cucumber sandwiches.

Colourful breakfasts in the sun...

...followed by...

... lazy afternoons drinking pulque, a concoction brewed from fermented agave.

Cuernavaca has been home to many famous and infamous expats. This Robert Brady's kitchen. Brady was a flambouyant art collector whose house has been turned into a very entertaining museum in Cuernavaca.

Brady clearly paid a great deal of attention to his food and has an impressive collection of images of San Pascual, one of the patron saints of cooks and cooking, in his dining room and kitchen.
